it was a big step for me to move into hifonics because of all the controversy that surrounds this company. but regardless, can`t wait to hook it up.

Mine's been going strong for a year and a half at 1 ohm, bx 1205d by the way. I think they had a soldering problem in pre 2004 models. Anyway, a close to 1200 watt amp(even if it's over rated by 200 watts) for $300.00 brand new is a great deal in my books. I'll knock on wood just in case though!

i saw some birth sheets for the 1500 models and the actual ratings were around 1200 rms. regardless hifonics gives you good bang for the buck.

I assumed it was over rated based on the fuse rating of 80 amps for a 1200 watt output. It would have to be 104% efficient at 14.4 volts. They do use a maxi fuse though and it is possible that the engineers decided to place a smaller than normal fuse as added protection, given that those fuses may allow a significantly higher amount of current to pass for a longer period without blowing. As it is, I have yet to see an actual un-biased test report as to the actual output...I know it's more than enough power for my set up, so it really is a non issue for me. It would be nice to know though.
