bulletproof plexiglass

We got ours from Laird(?) plastics in Clagary. You can get any thickness you want. We bought a 4x8 sheet of 2" for abouts 1800. you could get 4" thick if you wanted but it would have to be water cut, so the cost would go up. They even cut the pieces for us as well for no charge. Hope that this answers some of your questions.

Lexan is the trademark of DuPont I think. Its actually called polycarbonate. Same thing with Plexiglass (trademarked name for acrylic). It is heavy, so unless you live in a podunk town in the middle of nowhere, you should be able to find it and/or order it locally.
1 more thing, Lexan is harder to work with than Plexiglass in my opinion.

Lexan has the distinct different property to it that it can be 'cold-formed' meaning you can bend it without heating it, unlike Plexiglas. That is one reason why it can be bulletproof because it can absorb the impact and shock of a bullet without shattering or breaking like plexi would. This also means it is SUPER easy to scratch. Lexan on a daily driver is a nightmare.
And for $1800 I would hope they cut it for free
