Butler/Tru Tech/MaIntosh - Which to buy??
Does anyone know which one of these is superior in build quality and sound? The tube amps from Butler sure have my attention, and am considering a 4 channel to replace my ZXs.. I hear alot about McIntosh but they seem really expensive -even used. And I've only heard about the existence of Tru Technology recently.. [img]graemlins/dunno.gif[/img]

Tru is new.. thats why you have prolly only heard of them recently..

in prolly mid jan. avi is going to be releasing its 4 channel amp. just saw some pics of it the other day looks oh so sexy. an if it preforms anything like the 2 channel does its gonna be awesome. cant wait to get my hands on it to play around with it next week. mcintosh is spossed to be killer highend from what i understand, havnt heard much of the other two tho.

I've reviewed the Butler and the Mac amps, and from those, I'd take the Mac, though I don't think there is a Canadian distributor right now.
The AVI was also an excellent amplifier, and it would be a tough choice between the two.
The new Precision Power was right up there in terms of performance, i like it very much, though the styling differs a great deal from the understated designs of the other two.
The Kicker KX amp I reviewed a few years back was also in the same league, and of course the Audison VRx amps are as well.

The reason I'm leaning to the tubes is that I once heard a Luxman CD player that had tubes in it, and it made that home stereo sound very smooth and rich! it was remarkable actually.. but I am going to check out he AVI crossovers now.

The tube amps (and I've owned a lot of the original Tube Driver) sounded awesome in terms of spacial and tonal reproduction. They weren't all that impressive in terms of dynamics though.
The current Tube Driver Blue amps are an order of magnitube better in that regard, but still behind a complete solid state amp. if you like to get slapped in the spine by your bass, go solid state all the way...
