how would someone go about getting something, say an amp, direct from the factory/company? do you have to call them? or do you have to be a dealer?

i would like to get direct seeing as it would probly save me a bit of money, dont want to resell the amp(im not trying to sell to the public, or sell it for any matter), i just want one for personal use, is this possible? the company in question is Orion, if that helps any...

Usually have to be a dealer. Some companies sell some stuff factory direct tho.

just call them up...if they deal with the public directly, they will let you know.

Not going to happen from any company with a shred of integrity. If I caught one company selling an item direct to a customer, that company would lose my business on the spot and chances are all of my friends who own shops and deal with them would stop purchasing from them as well. So, based on this, do you think this is a good move on the part of the manufacturer? I think not. Not a rant on you at all dude, you have a good question to which there is always an answer that the general public does not consider. Even if I want an amp for myself, I still have to purchase it through the same channels (mind you I get a deal).

This is common in many industries, Subway employees get a break on their lunches and drinks etc. and I as a dealer get deals on my personal stereo gear, free, no not a chance but sometimes it is only a 10% discount as well.
