Buying off ebay?

Is this a bad idea? or can someone point me in a good direction of buying online?

I have been around a few times every time looking to buy new woofers/amp/ general audio but every time something happens and the funds disappear but now that wont happen

I think it depends on your experience in car audio bro. ebay is a great way to get gear if you can install and tune everything right.(or close)
If you're gonna want help with install/gear problems?? Buy at a local shop/pay a little more and get the hands on help/returns etc..

If it wasnt for the couple shops in my town when I started, I'd still be blowing sh** up. hwell

I have copious amounts of product that I am blowing out right now as well. I have a whole pile of feedback here on the forum for you to look at to ensure that you are in good hands. I do not have a website as it does not allow me to talk directly with. Interested, drop me a PM or e-mail to forbidden at telus dot net.

my friends and i have purchased a few things off ebay - decks, subs, amps - as long as you know what your looking for, you can score a good deal. i found my alpine 9835 for about 200 bucks shipped.

Buying stuff off eBay, especially used equipment is always a gamble. You can get good stuff for fraction of the price, or loose some money. If you don't want to take this risk- it's always better to buy stuff from local shop where you can get good advice and support.
But if you have a little knowledge and willing to do some research - used equipment market, and especially eBay where you get access to sellers around the world, is a great place to get good equipment for a fraction of the brand-new-store-bought stuff.

^ agree eBay has a place but IT CAN NOT replace the value provided by a retailer with warenteed products.

Ebay is prefect for me. My equipment can't be bought in any store. How many shops have an alpine 7909 or ppi art series. How about some old school flat piston ppi pro subs. Hmm. Wire I could buy local for 4 times the price than online. My dlx 17pro (alpine japan) can't be bought here. For most equipment I say local shop. For the old school or rare crowd I have to say ebay.
