buying used Alpine Type R 12"

Hey
some guy is selling me 2 type R 12" subs, with a box for $250. Really cheap, and tempting to buy, but is there anything that could be wrong?

He said everything is good, and only used for 4 months.

Should i go for the deal, or passs?

Is there anything i can check before i buy it, to see if it is proper?

for a guy that is selling and doesnt have an amp is prob ripping you off i would pass unless you can borrow an amp or a frds car that is setup for it

Thats a tough situation. You could pull each sub and check for broken or burned tinsel leads, look for damage to the suspension and check for any abnormal noise when you move the cones. These are just visual inspections though. Unfortunately if a deal is too good to be true, it usually is.

Have you checked the classifieds on this site?? There are tons of bargains to be had.

might also try a multimeter and check if the coils stand up to the ohm's that theyre supposed to be either the dual 2 or dual 4
