hmm just finished a 15h work day, i'm not overly excited about it all. But thought i should sort some stuff out since i have no hope of getting to sleep right now, eventhough i need to be up in 7h for work again.

PROBLEM:buzzing sound coming thru stereo. Pitch does not change with rpm's nor does it ever get louder or quieter no matter what the volume.

I coulda swore this problem did not exist before i removed my subs/amps (sub and mid/highs) from my jeep before holidays. Grounds for the amps are connected to the same spot they've always been (didn't remove any wiring, just disco'd it from the amps enough to get the equip out). Nothing as far as the deck or 4 mid/high speakers has changed.

What have i got screwed up here or what should i change/check?

speaker wires, one strand may be hitting another conection.....thats my guess

or a bummed rca cable.

did you disconnect the battery or remove your main fuse before doing this?

nah...there was no removing of fuses on my behalf anyways....

stereo still sounds good as ever....just when there's no music you get that constant, hum, i'll double check the wires to make sure no strands are flaling and touchin one another.

I don't wanna go thru the pain of replacing an rca cable...so i'm just gonna assume thats not a possibility lol.

more than likely if you never removed your fuses you probably touched your power wire and rca's together
blowing the ground trace on one of your pieces

if that was the case.....wouldn't it make this noise in auxillary too?

Thats what i found out today....it only makes the buzzing sound when the engine is running, it's not a huge deal, but if it's a simple fix or something yeah heh.

I was going to say to check your grounds. Even back in the same place the conecton can be diferent.

turns out it may have been my mistake....

currenlty my ground wires run under my box to my amps. Jackass's in the city don't know how to drive and i had to slam on the brakes...which made the box slide forward pulling on those grounds as well as in the end making the box flip forward onto the amps subs down (uh oh).

Subs are fine, but i ended up pulled the ground wired mostly outta the crimp and because it's under plastic i didn't notice this all. finlly yesterday i lost my bass all to gether as my ground came off.

Grr - i really gotta come up with some sorta miracle solution for bolting my sub box down.

None the less thanks for all the help on troubleshooting a problem in which i assured you the actual problem wasn't the problem. My bad [img]smile.gif[/img]
