ByPass Toggle/Rocker Switches

Does anyone know if I can use an On/Off switch or can I only use a SPDT on/on switch. I currently have an on/on SPDT switch but it needs to be re-soldered onto its wires again. I'm wondering if I could pick up a nice LED on/off switch with a nicer connector or quick connection tabs to avoid the issue of having to re-solder again by just splicing the wires and wrapping each wire around the prongs respectively, etc. This application is for a toggle switch for a Pioneer in dash dvd player's parking brake check.

Not that I advocate this procedure but the correct item to use is a SPST switch.
