Can CDR's damage a deck?

A dealer recently told me that CDR's can quickly ruin the laser on my Factory BMW cd player. They seem to play fine at the moment. Can anybody corroborate this? Thanks, Bob.

If the deck is designed to play them then there should be no problem. Anyway, even if it did reduce the life of the laser( I'm not sure how it would); How would you know? An electronic component can fail for any reason. I've been playing burned cds in my car exclusively for over 5 years and I have never had any problems with my equipment.

Maybe this has been discussed already, but why wouldn't you put on those labels?

I've used them forever and no problems. In several cars. All my friends do as well and they've not had any problems either. Not sure where this guy got his info.

I searched google with several different enteries and could not come up with any links backing that theory.

i would relate it to the agc for the laser seeing that burn't cd's don't have the same reflective qualities
