can i run crossovers straight from the deck?

i have morel dotech ovation components and dont have any wiring for the amp to drive them but i want to test them out so i was wondering if i can hook them up to the crossovers and then run it right off the deck?

Sure as long as your deck has a built in amplifier. It just won't sound as good as it could at higher volumes because of the lower power from the deck, but at low volumes it'll sound as good as any other amp.

its going to run off a kenwood x794.
i dont know too much, but, if any of you guys know about this deck can i run an amp for sub, front components, midbass and still hook up an equalizer or processor. (are they the same?)

maybe not, it says 3 preamp outputs. i would need a powerful 4 channel amp to run front comps and mid bases right

Don't you have the manual? 3 pre outs usually means rca outputs for front, rear and sub woofer. If you're using the ovation crossover, then you just need an amp to power that and if you get rear speakers you can get an amp for that as well as a sub woofer amp. Personally, i would get a good 4 channel for the front and rear, and a sub amp for the sub. You can always run an eq or processor...even with oem decks these days.
