I have an 04 Impala and I am planning to put in a system :P I have about $1800-2200 to spend on everything (speakers,deck,amp,sub,wires etc.) I have friends who can install all of it for me so I dont need it done professionally, I have a friend who does custom boxes he said he just needs the specs of the sub. I was thinking of putting in an Alpine type x sub, the rest I have no clue as to what to get. So any help would be appreciated as 2 what to get...

 

Take the system in steps if you have to. There is no point in compromising on one part of the system as it will lead to you spending even more $ in the long run. If it means that you have to sacrifice one part right now to get the proper other part, do it. You can always add the other part later on.

Good to hear about the install and the custom box idea. Is the goal for the system to get to a respectful volume level? Does the cd player need Ipod / USB / Bluetooth support? Will you be replacing the front and rear speakers right now or is this one part that you will be upgrading later?
