Canadian owned Car audio support?
#1
I have been thinking about starting my own company for the last year or so and I would like to know if you guys would support a new totally Canadian company and I would also like to know what type of products you would like to see.
My goals in the first few years is to have a few lines of subs a low-mid end component set and 3-4 amps.

I think for a canadian company to be successful, or for any new company in car audio to be successful, you'd need a product that stood out in some way. Just having amps, componants and subs that are mid-line, and run of the mill won't last long.
if you have subs that have good cosmetics, great sound quality and get loud, that would last, or if they're ugly as sin, but are killer for SPL that'll last too. I'd suggest you focus on one thing and see how it goes from there. say start with subs, then add some componants, and then throw some good amps into the mix.

^ all depends on the price he can do it for IMO... if he can come up with mid line gear at a great price, then I see potential to do well... Killer SPL subs that cost the same or more as another brand that has been around longer may not do so well.....
Do you intend on assembling your own amps/speakers/subs or ordering premade stuff with your own decal on the front ??

Sounds good!!
I hope the best for you!!
Remember how cheap us SPL guys are and concentrate on equipment for the every day consumer. If you try to cater to us SPL fanatics, your profit margin will be minimal!!
I wouldnt stock much for spl competitors, and have it as a special order item for the high end amps, and spl subs. That way, you dont have to drop a ton of cash down just to have a dozen of each size spl based subs sitting around!!

I'd be there to support in any way that I could.
As for products.. well there's 2 sides. One being what I'd personally like to see, and the other being what would make you a viable company.
Like Lee mentioned.. if you make equipment dedicated to comeptitions you will have a hard time making a go of it. I mean, I'd love to see a Canadian company go out of their way to make gear for us (like SPL Dynamics does for Finland) but I don't see it making you rich.
If you were able to make a decent lineup of low, mid, and higher quality subs, Then a 4 channel, a couple of 2 channel, and maybe 1-2 monoblock amps, then get some inexpensive co-ax and component speakers... you'd be set.

the speakers would have to be purchased from over seas and assembled in Canada only because I have not found a comnpany that can magnatize motors larger then 50-75 oz. Now that is fine for entry level and maybe a double stack mid line but for a flagship woofer that is not nearly enough.
But dont get me wrong I would love for all the parts to be truly Canadian made but I dont see that happening at this timemaybe in the future.
