Well, there is absolutely no beamriders here. There is an FS almost everywhere though. And I explained why I used them for the example, I was the install manager at one for 4.5 years so I know their history. Some of them still have great installers. The Calgary stores have excellent installers for example.

If you really want to pick on a store about how about ACC Autosound? How many shops do you know of where the owner has thrown a roll of electrical tape, phone book, screwdriver at a customer?

i dont think the shop is to blame here. the uneven playing field was built by the distributors all you have to do is read the mitek guys post to get an idea of where their head is at, with something so new its pretty hard to point any fingers at the retailers. the distributors have managed to suck all of the profitability out of sat radio for retailers and insert it into their own pockets virtually overnight, there is no grey area, its just the way it is

And since when was the gray market product illegal ??
It was paid for, it wasn't like some guy in a basement making descramblers..............

we will continue to support the american version and sell off of the canadian one, which is pretty easy seeeing as how everyone coming in wants the american one anyway and there is no problem getting stock

It's because the big boxes simply can't find enough good salespeople to sell on value. They do the next best thing and hire whatever they can get and sell on price.

^^^^^^ Nail on the head right there friends and neighbors. I look at the big boxes pretty much like a puppy mill. Crank out as many boxes out the door and make a buck no matter what the cost. Minimal sales training, the flyers, commercials etc. sell for them. Personally, I'm not a big chain retailer sort of person. I like the more personal service you get at a smaller retailer. Funny thing is, most smaller retailers will generally come close to a box store's price if they have to.
I'll also agree with Tim. There was nothing wrong with Sirius or XM as far as a "greymarket" piece. The only thing that was marginal is the way the CRTC views them.... not enough Nickleback I guess or something. I don't see the CRTC whining when I listen to AM radio at night that is coming from the States....
