Not sure if this would work better in the General Discussion forum but, we'll see. (Thanks guys for movin it, wasn't sure )

I'm looking to get a good alarm for my car. I'm really interested in those animated remote alarms though. Chris B has one.

Reason being I don't see what an alarm will do for me if I don't know that its going off, and at least if someone sets it off by accident I'll be able to save my battery incase its going off for a long time.

So any suggestions guys ? I will be looking to a professional install on this one as well, and I'm well aware of all the prices.

What've you got, and opinons/reviews on your alarms.

go with compustar. i have the 2W8000FM-AS/M. modle and it has never let me down. mine has the 2 way remote so you can see whats going on all the time, it also has a remote start for those cold winter days. the only problem i have is with people who perpusly set off the alarm, just to tick me off, but other then that it's an excelent alarm/starter combo

Chunk, you just got the thing.... but it is one great alarm system as well. If you were anywhere near me, I would be setting it off on you all the time.

it is a little pricey, but you can't put a price on security. mine costed about 700.00 with trunk sensor, antigrind, but no auto door locks. so i have to lock my doors my self atleaset i have power locks to start with. and as for a place to get one that's kinda a toughy, seeing as you don't have A&B sound out east thier, im not quite sure where you could find it. im sure some poeple on the board here should be able to help.

mr2nr: i think ive had it for about 2 months now. so thats awhile now. well atleast in my books.

Well not to give you guys a HUGE price range as to what I'm lookin at but if all works out with my loan I'll have about $800 left to spend on the alarm. I would like some left over cash to add either cold air intake or modify the exhaust though.

But just to make it clear, I am not gonna cheap out on an alarm, because as my friends know me here I'm very protective of my vehicles. If someone so much as comes close to denting it I'll be right there to give them a tongue lashing if they actually do hit it. especially after my first year of college I came out to a couple guys trying to break into my 1st Gen Z24 in broad(sp) daylight. I had a basic viper alarm that came with the car at that time. It did the job. But I couldn't believe how stupid those guys were, I kind of wish I waited a bit longer to see what they were doing to catch them more in the act, but with that I may have had something else to repair too.

I'm not really interested in the remote starts its not a feature I want or really need. I would just like a good alarm I can feel safe with and that has an animated remote, because as I said if I'm at work I can't hear my alarm going off. With the remote it would make that much difference.

Probably yea, I was lookin on ebay last night and some info itself onthe cold air intake and looks like I'll do that before exhaust. Don't need a fart can just yet

Alarm is first before anything though. Does anyone know of places in Toronto or Whitby/Ajax/Pickering for alarms? As I may be going that way on the weekend.
