Car Audio causing you to have hearing damage?

Do any of you have hearing loss from Car Audio?

I know some of you guys have thousands of watts on subwoofers, but do you actually crank it up to use the most out of the amp while still inside the car?

I am actually scared to exceed certain volumes in a car , I already have some hearing loss in my right ear from high frequencies, and playing guitar.

I remember cranking the stereo for a period of time, and getting out of the car and realizing my ears hurt. That's when I knew it was too damn loud!

My amp right now is 300 watts max, and I don't intend on going any louder. I just like bass, not excessive volume =]

I have read over and over again that its not the low frequencies which cause hearing damage but the high's. Listening to rock music at such a volume which makes your ears physically hurt is what causes damage. I have sat in a walled car with 8000w of power and my body hurt more than my ears did lol.

tipically in competition if a vehicle is doing over 150 you have to be outside the car , but just from daily driving im sure I have suffered hearing losss
