I just purchased a 2000 Acura Integra Special Edition, and am picking it up in a couple days. The first thing I plan on doing is the sound system, but I'm trying to find some info on what is the best bang for the $$$. She's completely stock so I'm starting from scratch (which is more fun i think). I could use any suggestions from the deck to what subs I should look at. I'm asking because obviously my knowledge on car audio is limited, but I'd like to learn a lot more about it. I don't have much of a price range right now, because I most likely won't get it all done at the same time.

I suggest Pioneer headunits if you are looking for getting good stuff with a smaller budget and Alpine if you have a bit more to spend (on the headunit).
For subs, there are so many that it's hard to suggest one (or even a few). Are you looking to use very little trunk space, what type of music do you listen to, etc.

of course start with a head unit like a pioneer 7600mp, then i would put a pair of infinity 6000cs components up front in the door or make some kick panels for better sound. match the rears with a set of infinity 6001i coxials. the rest can come later like a 4ch amp and sub amp with sub enclosure, possably 2 10's or 2 12's depending on how much bass you want. amps and subs to go for are rockford fosgate or mtx brand. to save a bit of money you could run a nice 4ch and 1 sub with the fronts off the amp and the rear channel set to low pass running a single 10 or 12 with a nice custom fitting box. 1. Head unit - recommend Eclipse of course
2. Front component speakers or good coax that will later be the rear fill speakers.
3. 1 subwoofer + 4 channel amp to power front components and sub.
4. Rear fill speakers or front components depending on #2.
5. Dedicated sub amplifier (to power 1 or 2 subs), rewire the 4 channel to power the front and rear.
6. 2nd subwoofer
Build your sub box to fit 2 subs if that is what you want. It is not that much more expensive to do it at this time. A sub system is one of the most expensive parts of the system due to the sub, box, amp, wire, more wire and install time. If you are going to do 2 subs and eventually use 2 amplifiers, make sure that the wiring you put into the vehicle will be capable of handling this demand as well. Wire adds up in a hurry.

I would nix the rears especially if you run a high spl system. Unless the rears are in they're own sealed enclosure, because they will hit peak excursion all the time because of the woofers bass. It doesn't sound pretty.
