"....But the new measure would outlaw possessing or installing any car stereo with a speaker over a foot in diameter; having more than one speaker 10 inches in diameter; more than 10 speakers overall; more than two amplifiers; and any amplifier over 300 watts.
In addition to impounding the car, possible penalties include a minimum of $250 fine on the first offense and $500 on subsequent offenses within a year.

Yea its not going to happen because that ordinance would be in violtation of the US constitution.....
Most municipalities have noise ordanance already.. generally you get a fine...
If the po desides that you are disturbing the peace they can definatly confiscate equipment and/or impound your vehicle... thats nothing new..
this is just some municipality trying to hype up a bunch of their own BS...

Any case of that taken to court could never be prosecuted.. there would be so many variables. Like for insance:
300 watt amplifier? is that rms/peak? ok so i'll get a competition rated 300 watt amplifier and you'll be able to hear me within 20 city blocks.
10 inch speaker? ok i'll put that speaker in the most efficient enclosure I can find like an 8th order bandpass box and it'll be just as loud as any bigger woofer..
And maybe i'll get 6 more 8 inch subs to go along with that..
plus many other things.. the use of line drivers to boost signals.. etc...
this kind of thing could never pass.. but hey only in the U.S.A right [img]graemlins/laugh.gif[/img]
