cd players with usb input

Hi there,

I'm looking into purchasing a deck with a front usb input. I'm not much of a car audio buff and there are alot of choices out there on the market. I want to be able to use my ipod, mp3 phone, and flash memory usb devices as my audio sources. Does anyone have any suggestions on a good system with these features??

I have the Kenwood KDC-MP532U - http://www.kenwood.ca/products/ListProduct.aspx?k1=2&k2=46&k3=172&pr=2364

I use a Lexar 512mb key and a ocZ 2gb key with it - they both work great.

From my understanding as long as you have the device setup as a mass storage device the deck will read it no problem.

Also the usb does not plug directly into the front of ther deck - it is on a 2-3ft dongle cable - i placed mine up in the glove box .

The DB365USB. The USB slot is on the front of the unit, and it has read from my Lexar Jump drives w/o any problems the few times I've fed it music that way.

Cheers,

I'm running an x890. I prefer having the 2.5 ' cable (estimate) out of the back of the deck as you can run it to wherever you want it. I was told they will be (or maybe have by now) be putting out a flush mount kit for the usb input. I'm running an ipod using the external controller (kca-ip500 i think it is) and I use a 2 GB jump drive for the usb. All in all, it seems to be an excellent choice for digital music devices.

I was at the audio shop just last week checking out the Kenwoods as I am thinking of upgrading to the new models for USB as well. I have an X589 and it sounds great. By the looks of the sound board, they have made a mounting kit for the USB input. The 590 and 890 both have USB. 890 has 3 5v preouts, 590 has 3 4v. The 590 got rid of the adjustable, motorized face this year as well. It was a nice feature while my HU was in the Jeep and closer to the floor....I could tilt the faceplate up at an angle where I could see it better. It's more at eye level in the truck so doesn't much matter any more. The 890 still has that feature though plus the fancy, colourful graphical face if you like that sort of stuff.

One of the guys at the shop runs the 590 with his iPod and he said it works great. They have the iPod interface for my model but I have read that it is slow and not very user friendly for searching. He said using the USB input with the iPod it's just as fast as anything else.
