CD5030 - don't care for it

Hello All,

I purchased an Eclipse CD5030, the sound quality is fantastic, don't get me wrong however...

I purchased this head unit for two reasons:
1 - As an iPod controller. All though it does a decent job when you have it on shuffle all, navigating through the iPod is difficult, but what really drives me nuts is when I shut the vehicle off and start it again it defaults to the radio station - most often. Sometimes it will remember that it was playing the iPod but not every time.

2 - For the blue-tooth syncing with my phone. Again it does not always sync up. It seems to be hit or miss. I don't know if I am doing something wrong but I can't get it to work consistently.

Any help anyone can offer me would be greatly appreciated.

I would hate to have to purchase another new head unit.

Thanks
Jai

Hmm I've never used an Ipod with it...

Seems like the thumbdrives work great on it, And it won't default to the radio. I suggest you try a different Ipod on it if you can get a hold of one from a friend or something.

As for bloue-tooth, Never tried it and will never bother using it in a car.

One weird thing happened to my CD5030 before, The text flipped upside down for a few seconds, It was really weird...I think it was too cold and it lagged or something.\

Good luck!

I have tried a couple of different iPods and no difference.

Sometimes the unit will play the iPods first but most often it defaults to the radio.

And I have tried turning the ipod on first but when you leave you vehicle and come back you don't always take the ipod out with you, hence the reverting to the radio.

I have had one for a while and have expereienced the same issues.
Never really got to me though.
Navigation is more to do with reading from the ipod being slow, you can scroll different ways and there are all the artist etc options
The sometimes starting ipod and somtimes radio is weird to me too. I dont get it either, I thought it was time based but its not. Its one button too switch so it doesnt bother me that much.
Blue tooth on the other hand I have not had issues with and is my favorite part of the deck. What type of phone do you have? (iphone?)

my blue tooth works great with the right phone. my phone is too old and crappy to work on the blue tooth but all my friends phones are all synced to it and they all work fine.

i only had a ipod hooked up a few times. but i find its more difficult to get the cd plyaer to read the ipod then anything.

like you plug it in and u think it should work but sometimes i have to shut the radio off (turn the car off) and back on for it to read it.

so i have the opposite problem. my car has to be turned off and back on for the ipod attachment to work. sometimes. i finally got an ipod and i will see how well it works.

I have a Sanyo Katana, it works wonderfully in my other car (factory bluetooth) so I had high hopes with the Eclipse.

I am now debating getting a new deck.
