I still think 320lbs is retarded... a *real* R&D team could probably cut that by 2/3....

I suppose kicker will have a 25" solo-z that weights 450lbs by 2007

You are correct... Monster subs are not new but a monster sub that is built to actually play and perform is...

I'm sure a *REAL* R&D Team would have used a smaller magnet and found a way to used stamped steel for the basket and had a 3" voice coil... gotta love those weight saving measures to sacrifice performance for a looks only marketing strategy

Give me a break buddy...

a year ago adire had a motor that will rival that one... and it only weighed 40 lbs and it used a somewhat normal sized voice coil...

Do you even know if 2.5" one way xmax is linear...?

I will go out on a limb here and say that fs is probably way too low to be a good sub... let alone a good SPL sub...

The ability to reach 10hz with authority while cool, serves no purpose if it impeades output over 20hz...

The more I think about it, the more I think 'overpriced marketing BS piece of crap'

(not that MTX dosnet have some nice gear)

The adire motor was never produced and was never a finished driver. Big difference. Do you know the FS of the new sub from MTX? I haven't seen any hard data specs, so I wouldn't want to speculate, but MTX is not going to make a sub that doesn't work and offer it to the masses.

This sub has nothing in common with the "big statement" subs from other companies. It is real and it will perform!

Haunz 01-10-2005 04:27 PM

I was under the influence that the adire sub was special order... maybe its a moot point because they arnt for car audio anyway...

But, all the other 'big statment' subs I have seen worked as well... was the ablahn I menioned not a production sub ?

You have a point that we dont know the subs specs, so I shouldnt speculate... but I am willing to bet that two of the RE 15s shown in this same thread would match if not outpreform that sub in the audable range with less power, at 1/2 the price, and 1/2 the weight....

thats my .02

Edit: 22" isn't that big... so if they did a good job fs might even be in check... but I wouldn't be surprised if it was as rediculous as the 300lb magnet....

The big statement subs from Abahn and clarion didn't perform as good as a mid level MTX, JL etc.

Ok, Im not sure where to start on this but maybe we can clarify some things.

1. The largest purpose of this driver is to stretch the boundry of what has been produced in the past.
2.This woofer is not designed to be used by the masses. It was built for the guy who has everything, so they can say look what I have. It was built with the MTX HOLY **** slogan in mind.
3.The woofer at CES was a working production piece yes!
4.Yes it is a marketing tool as someone stated, which explains why it has a 350lbs magnet structure. If the "BETTER" engineers could cut the weight down 2/3 they would. Now at that point it would not be a JackHammer nor make me as a customer say HOLY ****.
5.It will not fit in a honda civic, although that would be a project I would be impressed with someone trying.(Ryan dont get any ideas).
6. Mitek Corp has invested what most companies budget 5 yrs of R&D on just the magnetizer alone.
7. You will start to see a trickle effect of the technolgy in this woofer to other lower lines within yrs.
8. It is a statement piece that says "We can built it, YOU cant"

Info on the sub
1. 22"
2. 6.5" VC
3. 350lbs magnet
4. 4AWG Streetwires Terminals.
5. 10awg T-leads.

lets start there and if there are any question I would be happy to answer.

BumpinTalon 01-10-2005 04:54 PM

so a 6.5" voice coil means what? like 15,000 watts RMS?

PLOW 01-10-2005 05:08 PM

i got around 100 pic from CES can anyone tell me where can i post it?
