Choosing an amplifier
I am looking at this JBL sub and I am wondering what Amp would be right to power it. Can someone please tell me how to choose the right amp for a sub, i dont understand what "watts RMS" and "watts peak" means. Also if someone could direct me to a site that will show me how to hook up a simple deck>amp>sub system with the wiring that would be amazing.
The sub is a JBL GTO1002D Compeition 10" GTO Series 1,000 Watt Dual 2 Ohm Voice Coil Subwoofer Item is Brand New Specification 10" Dual 2 Ohms Subwoofer New proprietary frame, in-board motor structure and new cone design Progressive spider Polypropylene cone with hi-roll rubber surround Vented polepieces Power Handling: 250 watts RMS 1000 watts Peak Sensitivity: 91 dB Frequency Response: 25 - 400 Hz |
Watts peak should not be looked at, it is meaningless. Try and match the RMS wattage for amp subs and speakers.
And here is the site you want The Install Doctor - The Do-It-Yourself Car Stereo Installation Resource |
