Civic Coupe Trunk
 

Hey guys

I was wondering what are the biggest sizes woofers i can fit in a civic coupe. I did measure it myself and i cant really remeber, but i think it was between 16.5-17 inches high, which in theory makes it almost impossible to fit a 15 inch sub w/ box (if u use 3/4 mdf), but yet I've seen in twice in person and read about it on other forums.

I wanna fit 2 15s in my civic pretty bad has anyone here had any experiences or owned a civic like that, even any ideas would help...ill measure it again later on and make sure of the size

Well if that's the height, you can easily fit 15's. Remember, the cut out is only 13.5-14", and you can have the flange sitting right to the edge if necessary, which in your case is not since it's 16.5-17" of height available. Also, you can slope the mounting baffle to give you more surface area, sholuld you need it.

wow 2 15's.... are you looking to only hit one note?... i suggest getting a dvc 15, and 2 svc 10's just so that a 2 ohm load is easily reachable and a full frequence range is possible. withought skipping beats

aight; if the trunk is 17" high I might also figure no more then 36" wide and 16" deep ???

well whatever man you can probably find a pair of 15s that will work for you :thumbsup:

that aside, if you are willing to do some work you should also consider an infinate baffle setup and if you are looking for really good results with a small box try a google on aperiodic membrane installs..

Lots of different 15's that can fit in small(relatively) sealed boxes and sound great. Alpine type R's for instance, sound super d duper in a 1.5 cube sealed. As for the one note bit, they must not have been set up right. 15's are my sub size of choice, unfortunately I needed space in my trunk.

One more quick question...someone told me that even if i can fit 15s in my trunk it wont sound good because something about me not having enough airspace in my trunk...is this somewhat true

well, every speaker performs differently in different cars, but from experience I have to disagree. I've had 15's in old(87-90) mustang coupes that destroyed the neighbourhood back in the day. I've heard many sunfires, cavaliers and civics with 15's, one guy had 2x18's in his civic, and they were scary loud, and clean. Just follow Alpine's recomendations for a sealed box(optimum), I see it's 1.625 cuft net per driver, so 3.2 cubes for 2. Just make sure you have the power for them as they do need a lot to really jam, especially in a sealed box.

i have an olschool cadence a7 that puts out a clean 1200 rms at 1ohm which i think will be just about perfect for those 2 subs
