Thinking of doing an inexpensive upgrade. What's the opinion on Clarion speakers?
Looking to drive the speaker from a deck running 25 W RMS, and with a Clarion 200W sub to drive a single 10" sub (rar firing).
Speaker models: SRS 1624, SRS 1684, SRR 1684
If their speakers suck please let me know!

There is a member here, ClarionGuy 2001 who uses Clarion subs. From what I gather, he likes them.

See if he's still around and he should be able to help you.

 

There subs might be ok, but I took a listen at a local shop, they had all 3 models, they all sounded very "metallic". One was priced at around $240 and sounded horrible. Guess its true you pay for quaility.

 

I liked the sound of their 4x6 plate speakers that they have, seemed to have a fairly smooth sounding tweeter in it. A&B has a sale on until Monday, they had good deals on, especially on JL speakers, which sound quite smooth, IMO.

I'm definitely not a big fan of Clarion speakers. They lack midbass and the tweeters are "metallic" sounding ...

I'd listen to a bunch of speakers in local stores and choose the pair that you like the most ...

Don't forget to bring your own CD(s).

Clarion makes a good value speaker. The guy's teeling you they don't like them have never heard them in a vehicle. Their Power system speakers are very nice for the price.

hmmmm ... seems he's looking for speakers instead of subs... I wouldn't know how they sound [img]redface.gif[/img] ... sorry can't help you there! ..

 

Does your dads truck have the Phaze 1 series or the Power series? Or both? Have you heard them in anything but your dads truck?
