I don't know if the ones I saw were the xw line, but the shop had 2 clarion subs in box that sounded pretty nice(us$100 a sub they said). They looked like they had a flat aluminum cone. They looked really nice. I will say that. I had never heard a clarion sub before(didn't think the shop had ever sold them).

Those are the 2001/2002 SRWs. They do sound really nice (I was glad Clarion invested a lot of money into the cone and used Titanium.), but they aren't all that (Clarion should have invested more money into the motor and suspension). They're great for a really low budget SQ operation. However, they definitely aren't SPL-oriented subs and they sound downright bad ported.

I am considering an XW1000. Any experiences with these subs? Worth the premium price that Clarion asks for them (its almost twice the price of their other 10" ProAudio models)?
