Complete Noob, looking to upgrade stock Hummer H1

Hello Forum
Your site is absolutely full of great information, its overwhleming for someone like me who is simply trying to get a better sound in my truck. My goal with this upgrade is to get louder and cleaner sounding.... rattling bass is not as important as clear sound.

I need some basic advice if you are willing to help.

I have an H1 Hummer with (4) 5.25 inch speakers. I wanted to tell you what vehicle so you would have an idea as to the dimensions of the interior. Thats basically where it starts. My budget is around CDN$1000 and I would like to avoid buying across the border.

I am on PEI and we have a futureshop, I have looked on bestbuy.ca, and checked out this crutchfield item
http://www.crutchfield.com/S-YGslJYDbqR9/cgi-bin/ProdView.asp?g=208250&I=700JVCFREE

Any advice on what deck, sub, amp, and speakers would be so helpful...I just need someone to bring all the brand names together and say this will make you sound loud and clear.

Thanks in advance

Corey

Easiest thing with purchasing an H1 is to join an online club and look around there for information on who is selling. If you find one you like, you can ask the members about that Hummer and its history. A good one is www.humvee.net.
Got any Car audio advice?

If you're not really concerned about getting subwoofers (which I think you definately should to fill in the bottom end of all your music), I would probably tell you get a set of Alpine type R components for the front doors (put the tweets in the pillars), get Alpine type S rears (who cares about how it sounds for the people in the back, spend the money up front), Get a decent 4-channel amp (something that will put out at least 50RMS a channel for the type R's) like an Alpine v12, and a deck with obviously at least 2 pre-amp outputs, Alpine 9856. This should supply you with loud/clean sound with enough mid-bass to keep u happy till u get a subwoofer
