yea.. I would probably spend less on speakers/components per say.. and would look at spending some money on an extra amp so you can go active.. look at getting speakers that will work for the application.. and look at doing a good installation..

I'd rather have the right $75 mids and $30 tweets with a bit of money into an amp and a good install then a $1000 set of components that arn't done right..


Your real challange with a kickpanel install is either finding enough volume.. or a speaker that will yield a low enough Q and extention in a small enclosure..

picking an arbitrary component set is not the way to go..

I hear ya... but a proper install with a quality set of components will be all the more rewarding. My main fear is getting a set of lower end comps and ultimately not liking the sound.

I'm all for saving money on components, and am a firm believer in a quality install. :)

Hertz High Energy, HSK 165's. I've been to a shop here in town 4 times in as many weeks to listen to these speakers. These 6.5" components retail for $400 a pair. They sound fantastic, and are definitely worth looking into.
I have MB Quart Reference 6.5" components in my Elantra. I purchased them for their fullness/robustness. I've been very happy with them for the past 5 years.
The HSK 165's are going to go into my fiancee's Accent, when I can afford them.

I haven't been able to compare the Hertz and MB Quart side-by-side, so I'm not sure how much of a difference there is.

I don't think mine are that 'bright'. It was one of the main reasons I purchased them. Compared to the models that Mr. Tuner suggested, they might be.
