Component tweeters to go in dash or in door?
#1
This is part 2 of my question. After going to a few car stereo stores, some guys say to put both the component driver and tweeter in the door to replace my factory speakers in my chev s-10.
A few other guys have said to just put the drivers in the door, and replace the current factory dash speakers with the component tweeters.
Wondered what other people thought.
Again, Chev S-10, extended cab, Pioneer head unit, factor speakers in door and dash.
thanks again.

Try putting the tweeter in both places and see what you think. Rule of thumb is to keep the woofer and tweet as close together as possible, but on the other hand rules are meant to be broken and you might like it better in the dash, trial and error my friend.

Bzzliteyr, I found your pics.
I think I like your set up.
It seems odd that some people would have their mids on the door, and the tweeters right in front of you.
By the way, did you disconnect your dash speakers for your setup?

As a matter of fact, no.. I didn't. They give great front stage once the factory speaks are switched out. I use the doors as my "rears" and put the bass to them on my Pioneer P7300. That and with the 10" sub it sounded sweet. I have just pulled the whole system out as I am selling my truck. Mind you I left the nice speakers for the next guy cause they won't fit my 2001 Honda Civic. Good luck. if you need any more info, drop me a line..

I have a 2002 S-10
My rockford fosgate components are split up between dash and door.
I am very happy with sound so far.
The tech info said to either keep the tweeters close to mids or have them far apart. Need to read again for the actual specs.
But I would like to try to install like Bzzliter has done.
Would a second set of tweets in the door location would be OK...
I happen to have an extra set with crossovers.

I installed some MB Quart's about a month ago and I installed the woofer in the door and the tweeter in the dash. I'm quite happy with the sound so far, but I didn't really play around with other spots for mounting the tweeter.

I can tell you that with the deep mounting pods that Pioneer gives you you can swivel the tweets upward to make them cross toward the listeners ears on the opposite side from the tweeter. That tends to make it sound quite good and even slightly tricks people into thinking that they are hearing sound from the rear, and I don't have speakers there!! I like the way I installed mine. The only obvious drawback is that now that I am selling my truck, I can't really take them out as it will leave holes in the doors... maybe a cheap set of components in the doors would allow me to do avoid that? Good idea.. thanks for the suggestion, haha!!

I can't speak much for your vehicle in specific, just tell you my experiences.
In my tbird, i started out with just coaxials in the door, till finally upgrading to a set of CDT 6.5" classics. did the mid in the stock location, and put the tweeter as close to to the window as i could, and as close ot the dash as i could.
I was really happy that it raised the soundstage up from my knee's to about my stomach/chest.
Now in my jeep, i've got the mid's in the doors' and tweeters in the stock location on the top of the dash. I suppose the sound of the tweeters bounces off the winshield and directly to me, but again the soundstage seems to have gotten raised a lil bit, which i enjoy more.
As far as SQ go's an the rest of the imaging and soundstaging, i'm not smart enough to know all that doh! Other than the front speakers technically being closer to my ear in the car than what they are now in the jeep, i prefer the setup in the jeep. (I'm actually closest to the rear door speakers in the jeep - i may have to do some funny stuff with the deck to delay them a lil)
