components for $200
I'm looking for a set of components for my front stage. I'm currently running an alpine 9833 with a ampman/adire revolution 1500.1 powering an adire audio brahma 12".
I want a set of components that will produce decent midbass. What's your opinion on the following 6.5" sets I'm considering:
Diamond Audio D361 or D661s
CDT CL61A-TW24 or the EF-61
JL VR or XR
I listen to hip hop, reggae, rock, and trance. If there are any other component sets you have in mind, please recommend them. I don't like very bright tweeters, so I assume I need to stick with silk dome tweets.

These have never been installed or powered, they're just too damn big for my car.

Take a look at Pioneer Premier TS-C720PRS set. Not sure if they sell them locally, but they proved to be a kickass set for the money for many people. They might be a bit outside of your budget tho.

Hey DF you dont perhaps sell Pioneer do you? You remind me of a guy I used to know who was a big F#1 guy...
I am confused how any of these qualify as a $200 CDN comp set...
but the JL and Diamond are excellent and are very musical and accurate the CDT is a little less lovable but if set up properly top notch as well. Very good bang for the buck systems.

I just took out my JL xr components and replaced them with some rainbow kickbass, and the midbass difference is huge (same install, same size speaker) I'd actually be content subless with the Rainbows)
not totally relevant to your question but it might help you decide.
dont get me wrong the wrong the JL's sounded great but if you're after midbass and dont like harsh tweets, I'd recommend any on your list other than the JL.

I just noticed you have a 9833 that can do an active setup. If so, I bet ya that $200 worth of raw drivers + a 4ch amp will yield a great result. Just another option.
no not at all, not me.
Hey MTT, we got to meet sometime. I'm curious about the ranbow midbasses. I seem to be all set as far as setup, still cool to listen to some other drivers.
My crap seems to be installed along with a horror-style trunk lol. if you've seen the "tube" enclosure from the tutorial section at diyma, you can find one in my trunk. really scary haha.
