Question

Im looking to change the factory speakers out of the sunfire, But the budget is limited. Id like to put component speakers in all 4 corners, 4 to 5.25s in the doors with separate tweaters and 6.5s in the back deck, also with separate tweeters. I was wondering first is it a good idea to put components in all 4 corners? Second, I wasnt planning on buying a second amp, will the deck power be fine for the speakers with the passive cross overs, Im not looking for loudness, sound quality is more important. and lastly what speakers would you reccomend for the low end budget range. I know everything I have is clarion right now, but its not that big of deal to me if the speakers match, because they will be hidden anyway.

i'd say get some 5.25 or 6.5 components in the front, and depending on your budget and car limitations, maybe you can get some 6x9s in the back, or if you want to stick with components get another set of 6.5s. infinity makes really good component sets, and you can usually find them for cheap on ebay

I would go with the components in the front, however for the rear, a good set of coaxial speakers will do the trick. Spend the money you would save on good quality speakers for the front (or a sub/amp)

^^ Agreed, don't worry about the rear fill, you want the front stage to sound good.
Look into buying an amp to run the fronts. If you want SQ, get an amp because the deck starts to distort right when the volume is getting good/comfortable, and there is no better way to wreck a good set of components than feeding them unclean/distorted power. It doesn't need to be a big amp something like 50 WRMS x 2 or something like that.

I thought that since you are a Clarion fan I would mention that I use Clarion's SRS1684's and I think for the price they are a great component set.

Why any rear speakers at all ???? Spend more money on the front end in getting a better set of front components. I'd recommend 5.25" at a minimum. Also don't forget to look in the classifieds.

I usually don't like rear fill speakers anyways but I usually try some in each new car just to see. Same thing with the Sunfire. I put 6.5 coax's in the rear but I didn't like the way it sounded and was lacking midbass up front with only a 5 1/4 comp set in the doors. Took out the rears and put a 6.5 midbass in the door and problems solved.
My advice would be to spend the money on a good 6.5 comp set for the doors and get an amp to run them. On a limited budget all it takes is a bit more time to find the right deal in the For Sale section.
