Confirm my wiring

just wanting to confirm my wiring and theory about it is correct.


i have 2x dual 2 ohm subs that i need running at a 2 ohm load.

so i will want to run the subs coils in parallel giving me a 1 ohm load on each sub, then run the subs in series to get 2 ohms correct?

cool, all wired up and speakers mounted, ready to start making noise i hope. just need to lug the dam thing (guessing 150+lbs) upstairs and into the car.

I have read that its better to series the coils of each sub then parallel the 2 subs, i dont know why but i believe it is for better power division. ? dont know if what i read is fact or not, just what i have read.

IIRC... If the amp used was not 1 ohm stable, doing it the way you listed would buy you a little peace of mind in the event that one sub ever gave out, you would be left running a 4 ohm load as opposed to 1 ohm.

what would happen with the speaker and or amp if the amp was not meant to run at 1 ohm?

i would imagine it just wouldn't work?

i likely would have run it that way too, but i thought of the above way first.

probably run into protection, but it depends. I had a kenwood that was rated to be 2 ohm stable and ran it 1.333 ohms for like 2 years without knowing it. I think it depends to on the reactive load and so on that the amp sees, so 1 ohm nominal might be 2 reactive.

every one loves ohm!!!
hmm i have torture tested a few older amps this way and most of the time it related in the amp getting hott as hell then depending on amp it either went into protection or it had a different heat protection mode, just my couple penny's
