Couple Questions
I just bought a new set of component speakers and in the box came a little package of some black stuff that is like tar. What exactly is it?
And the other thing is what is the recommended wire gauge to run from my crossovers to my tweeters and woofers. I have 14 guage running to the crossover but i was just wondering if i should use the same stuff the whole way? The speakers are 125 rms but ill be running 100rms through them if that helps any.

14 ga will do it.
My guess is the black tar stuff is for gluing the grils on, so they don't vibrate.
I had that stuff with the old MTX black gold, and a set of pioneer somethings back when they had snap-on metal grills.
I'll bet the manual says something about it in the fine print.

that black stuff may also be caulking to stick the crossovers somewhere...
its sometimes called dumbdumb tape. You can buy it at autoparts stores and hardware stores. I got mine at Home depot. Comes in black and grey.
Great to stick tweeters to different locations temporarily to try to find the best sounding spot. It also then comes off easily.
