Criticize my audio selection

Hey guys, I want to replace my stock stereo and speakers with some aftermarket stuff.
I've already ordered my stereo and now I'm deciding which speakers and amp to get.
I drive a 2009 Cobalt which has 6-1/2" speakers in the front doors and 6x9" speakers in the back.
I'm currently looking at the following speakers:
http://www.crutchfield.com/s_1086929I/Infinity-Kappa-692-9i.html?tp=91
http://www.crutchfield.com/s_108629I/Infinity-Kappa-62-9i.html?tp=95

And the following amp:
http://www.crutchfield.com/p_136J23204/JL-Audio-J2-320-4.html?tp=35782

Any reasons why I should/shouldn't get the above?

I'm open to suggestions so if you guys think I should get something else, let me know!

What's "wrong" with the setup you have picked is up to you, really. If you like the improvement than you will obviously be happy. I have had the full line of Infinity products in one of my previous vehicles (good ol' Future Shop service plans ) and they always left me with a desire for more. Out of what was offered in my area (no online stuff) at the time, the Infinity Kappa Perfect line was the "best" and while they blew away the factory gear, there are most certainly better sounding speakers out there. Cost and availability will dictate a lot, I can understand that, and I by no means want to bash your choices.

Are there any specific brands/models of speakers that you'd recommend?

there are literally hundreds of brands, and thousands of models. Your best bet is to shop as much as you can. Take your favourite cd or burn a test disc with the type of music you listen to and start listening. Nothing wrong with any speaker if it sounds good to you. I've had Infinity reference which are not bad, Kappa which are pretty decent (though I didn't like the tweeters too much), and Perfects...which are very good sounding speakers at any price. I personally prefer JBL's GTI line though. As far as set up...do a 2 way component set in the front instead of a co-axial, and instead of the 6x9 for the rear, get a subwoofer(it does not have to be a 1000 watt monster for good sound...many simple systems use a 200watt entry level sub in a proper box and can shake the mirrors and deliver plenty of bass...I put a single 8" in a ported box with 100 watts in my sisters car and it sounds great). Use a 4channel amp with the rear 2 channels bridged to power the sub. It'll sound way better than just 4 co-axials. Later you can add the rear 6x9's and power them off the rear channels of the 4 ch amp and get a dedicated sub amp.

Normally I don't like to give such specific details on how to set up a system that doesn't yet exist (everyone likes different things, after all), but I have to agree here. A good component set and sub woofer combo will outperform factory holes stuffed with coaxials. What are your expectations for the system? What are you trying to avoid with the new system that is present in your current system?

Thanks for the replies guys!
I just took my previous system out of my car. I had a JVC headunit with an alpine amp and a jl sub. I've had my fun with the sub but now I want to have better sound quality overall, especially at higher volume. I also want to free up space in my trunk as well. I usually drive with my windows down so I need a system that will not distort when I turn it up louder.
I'm currently running the stock Cobalt speakers, so you can imagine the "quality" of the sound...

I would make a quick stop in to S and S in Scarbrough to see if anything on the used shelf catches your eye.

ugh.. ok. let me chime in. here. expensive gear does not equal great sound.
8 years ago I took my family honda oddesy and added Infinity kappa coaxes in the front doors and a tiny 8 inch cerwin vega sub in a .4 cubic foot box in the back with 40 watts per channel on the fronts and 100 watts on the sub. sounded really sweet.. could listen to it for hours... still does

then I had a honda oddesey with Polk Momo components, 12 inch momo sub and amps. Like 75 watts aside for the fronts and 300 watts for the sub. So very very ear splitting loud if I wanted but ugh hard to listen to

then I had a stock ford fusion and say. hmm very easy to listen to but not very loud

so now.. look at my signature...
very expensive system.. gobs of power. and very very loud. but ugh.. something is just not right. It is a pain to listen too... I have to figure out what the problem is... and I have no clue.. its all in the install...
