customer service at visions.ca ?

purchased a clarion deck from visions vx400
installed it and in the morning when its cold the volume is loud when i start the van and you can not turn it down the only way to turn it down isto press on volume up. called clarion and they told me it was defective so i called visions and they told me because it was self installed i had to call clarion direct so i told the guy that i am an installer and would be willing to fax him my competence card and no go. so if they dont stand behing anything they sell online unless installed there whats the point of selling online.
ive been installing for 25 years and have more knowledge and experience than most installers there. i realize that a lot of people call themself installer and ive seen lots of blown stuff from people installing themself but im licensed and was willing to prove that. its too bad cause they have great deals from time to time and would have purchased more in the future but not now. just my 2 cents without prejudice

Another reason to buy online at the cheapest place you can when you self install bcause even when buying from an authorized shop, warranty is useless (when self installing).

So I guess it's been over 90days since oyu baught it? That's usually the warranty period.

Me think if you can eep calling and stay polite oyu can get someone to help you.

...called clarion and they told me it was defective...
At that point you ask them where you can send the deck along with a copy of the receipt for replacement.

Reality is that the basic warranty is from the manufacturer, not the retailer, and you can often save yourself time by just contacting them or their service depot directly.

In many other industries it is commonplace that you deal directly with the manufacturer for warranty/repair issues. Going back to the dealer is pointless. If your Maytag breaks down you call the dude in the suit, not Sears.

^Bad example, my appliances, when I called the manuf, they said to call sears as thats their agreement. Depends on brand of course.

Some audio brands don't do well when you call them, you are suppose to go through the dealer. Apparently JBL is like that.

if you want to cheap out and save a buck or two by buying on line then you have to expect less than stellar service from the store.. remember the internet is not the same as a store..there is no overhead except storage.. and i dont know squat about your cordentials. documents are easy to forge for all i know you have lived in your moms basement the past 23 yrs doing tech support for a computer company out of india!! there policy has to take into account the service of them doing the install vs self installed... they are in business to make money and offer you top notch service.. if you dont want to spend money on there install, dont expect the service..dont blame visions at all.. they didnt build the deck.. you bought the cheapest deck out there and now you have issues, and cant get service from a store who never sold it to you.. see my point....sorry to say but the more you spend the better the service usually... ex.. no frills when eating a macdonalds, except a clean colon one hr later, but at the keg its great atmosphere, nice wine great looking waitresses, excellent steak. ect.. do you pay.. yes but you also get the service....

don't agree at all.

it shouldn't matter at all if you buy the cheapest deck they carry, or the most expensive. buying something off a store's internet site should be no different than going into the shop unless the online store explicitly states "all sales final". if they aren't willing to warranty a deck that is self-installed, then they should make that perfectly clear at the point of sale, so that you don't waste their or your time.

like Dukk said, try the manufacturer first. you'll get farther going that route than dealing with a Visions employee...

if you cant install a deck you shouldnt be putting them in.. i dont care if you have been doing out of your back yard for 20 yrs. your not a pro then dont bitch when it breaks due to install... thats why i went to school to learn this trade... now if its a manufactures problem then i agree with paul, contact the manufacturer and get the adress for the nearest warranty depot. you will have to remove the deck and either drive it there or ship it at your own cost.. then if the problem is due to manufactuer its fixed for free but if not you are now reponsible for all costs.. now if you bought it at say my store and i installed it, then if its within 30 days i will pull it out and give u another one.. now if its after the 30 days i take it out send it in, and reinstall all at my expense.. thats why you buy in the store and have me install it.... the piece of mind is well worth the little bit extra money... ,
