If you are watching the screen while driving you can be charged with impairment.

We had a customer that paid a shop to "bypass" this feature on a screen we installed and three hours later he rolled his car off the highway flipping about ten times. He was watching the screen at the time.

In Alaska a driver and passenger were killed by a Driver of a car watching his screen and did not see the red light he blew through. He was charged with second degree murder for the two deaths.

I guess people who watch video while driving never seem to think it can happen to them, just like a drunk driver leaving the bar.

Even better is the Customer wants to watch video while driving but will sue the Shop/Manufacture when they get into an wreck and they are not covered. Just like when a drunk kills someone, it is not thier fault they are drunk.....it is the beer company's. Just like Guns and fast cars....it is not my fault it is someone elses.

That is why Alpine/Pionner and everyone else now has these saftey features, most likely they have been sued over it. It happens every day now, if you do not believe me go to Home Depot and look at a ladder......it has so many warnings on it like "Placing finger in hinge may cause injury". Or better yet jump into a SUV and flip down the sun visor......"drive this vehcile like an idiot and it will flip/roll over causing death".

I didn't install the bypass to watch dvds while driving, I installed it because I didn't want to splice into the e-brake/footbrake. That sequence is also a huge pain in the ***.

im not sure how the new alpine dvd players work but i have an older alpine screen with a slave dvd player and i just installed a toggle switch and a valet swith to bypass the brake function. Reason being is that to do any kind of display functions like brightness or even the clock i have to have the picture viewable, but to try to watch a movie while driving is completly insane
