Wow, I just read that XM is a major sponsor this year of dB Drag and they are going whole hog this year.
"The highlights of this sponsorship include the following ...

* Radio to the power of X dB Drag Racing tour.
* dB Drag Racing staff (such as Sam, David, Steve, and Doug) will officiate these events. The presentation at these events will be top notch and include towers, pa, banners, etc.
* The events will be held at select retailers with no charge to the retailer. However, the retailer must agree to heavily promote the event.
* Contestant entry fee will be waived. (Free!)
* First time contestants will receive a free dB Drag Racing membership.
* Trophies and other prizes will be awarded at each event.
* All events will be broadcast over dBTV.
* There will be a Deathmatch competition at the World Finals for each of our four divisions of competition (Street, Street Max, Super Street, and Extreme).
* The dBDRA will award a NEW CAR to the winner of each of these four Deathmatch contests.
* World Finals participants who compete in 10 or more "tour" events will receive a leather jacket. We will not be giving jackets to points champions this year, however.
* World Finals trophies will be awarded to 1st-3rd place winners.
* Prize money will not be awarded at the Finals this year."

Will this wake up the other organizations? Geez, I am even thinking of doing SPL!
I'll believe it when I see it. </font>
Man jast face the facts dB Drag is the place to be. Now with this new info I am changing classes to compete for a new car and have no interest in IASCA or MECA.

This is really good for the sport/hobby. DB drag in the U.S. was on a major decline, this is the kind of thing that they needed to bring it back up. Some free shows up here would be good, but i don't think this will come to Canada..

If I didn't think that wayne harris was the biggest moron in the car audio industry, I'd think of competing in dBdrags. but lets look at this objectively.

The people who win (who we all know are allowed to break the rules, since they "get loud", if you don't believe me, you're kidding yourself, even wayne harris, and dBsteve have admitted that they let certain people break the rules because they will win) will get rewards, but everyone else will get the shaft as far as prize money goes, and the people who can attend the most of these "events" in the US will get a jacket, BUT they don't have to pay a cent to compete. and since you have to attend at least 10 to get a jacket, anyone who does, and (presumably) wins, is virtually guaranteed a spot at finals, (considering they'll have to attend at least 1 multi point to get a certified score).

Essentially, this is a way to reward those who
1.) live in the US. (I seriously doubt any canadians will be hitting 10 of these shows)
2.) are already successful, and have gobs and gobs of money to replace woofers and amps that blow in the deathmatch.

I wonder how much wayne himself got from this deal.

I don't get the people who complain that it's not available in Canada.

At least it's a step in the right direction.

What's good for dbDrags is good for all sound off orgs.
