decent 8's for factory sub replacement?

havent been to the site in ages!
anyway, i just picked up a '09 Pontiac G8. im looking to replace the factory 8" subs with something of a little better quality.
any good stuff out there that can handle a free-air config and work well with 50w rms each?
they are 2ohm each.

do you mean 50w from the hu ? since hu often say 50x4, cuz it's closer to 14w than 50 just maaking sure....from what I read 8's are popular from Sundown , JL, Image Dynamics, Tang Bang. I bought Image Dynamics, there was a lot of hate lately here about that company, but remember you're buying speakers, not the company represantive that will drive in your car, and I remember that ID's could work on low power.
Also Sundown will do a pre-sale soon on their newest e8 v.2, ask them how it will handle.

If stock 8's on 200w aren't cutting it than I doubt different 8's on the same power will, stock can't sound THAT bad. If your deck is 50w x 4 than see if you can rip out the 8's and send the 200W to a ported 15" or sealed 18". Are there 4 8's?

Track down a pair of RE 8s. They are the best low power 8 I have ever used and came either 2ohm svc or 4ohm dvc

There is a bass mod for the factory Bose amp. I don't know how well it works.

I'd get a pair of 8"s and run them in an enclosure rather than free air.

the sub amp is factory set to 100w or 50w each. i tried the gain adjustment that feezy mentioned but im pretty sure one, or both of the factory subs are blown, (not to mention the rear doors, but thats another thread all together) they buzz pretty good when at 75% gain (from 50% factory setting) just wanted replacements that arent shitty GM oem and that can actually take the power and sound good with it.. im sure the factory gain setting is fine when the subs are actually working properly.
i dont want any enclosures taking up trunk space, i just want to keep using the factory sub mounts, hence freeair. thanks guys

i guess i should mention this since its relevant, its the factory sound system.
two amplifiers, one for the 7 speakers (6.5in woofers in front doors same for rear doors, 1" tweeters in the corners of the dash and a 3.5in center channel that shares duty with onstar. then a pair of 8s mounted int he back deck behind each rear headrest.

none of my aftermarket gear from my trailblazer is installed. this system sounds ok as is, just the subs and a couple of the factory speakers are effed up due to the previous owner (obviously) being careless.
