I have a pioneer premier deck in my car. I'm gonna replace it with my factory deck for a while. Since i can't find anyone who wants to buy it, i was thinking about using it in my house, if it's possible.

Has anyone tried this? Would i be able to use an A/C-D/C converter to power it and have that connected to my reveiver so it's only on when i turn on the receiver? or am i stupid for even thinking of it?

thanks alot, but if this works then i'll keep it and use it as a cd player for the home theatre in my room. how did you power yours? i was thinking of putting it in an external hard drive case to make it look more polished and nice, do you think that will work?

you need a power supply with about 12v and around 1.5 -3 amps. most likely the powersupply should be able to run it for a long time, but please makesure that you don't cross any wires(or accidentally have 2 wires touch) i'd hate to hear that you burnt your house down

You could try an old computer power supply. Use the black and yellow wires to power it. Computer PS's dont usually give out much amperage @ 12V so it may not work at higher volumes. Next in line would be a small 12v bench power supply which would probably run you at least $50, but work much better.

Computer supplies give out 8A @12VDC. That should be enough if you are not using the internal amplifier of the deck.

As for powering it up when the receiver fires up, relays. You can find all sorts of relays for the job. Or, if you just want simple, plug the power supply into one of the switched outlets on your receiver (max sure that the power supply does not exceed the power allowance of the switched outlets).

Back in the day I had an 8, 4 tweet setup with 2 JBL 15's in my bed room when I still lived with my parents. I ran a 12v power supply and powered it all off an old Alpine 3566. (The power supply was quite large) I made a big wall unit inwhich everything was mounted. Looked kinda cool for back then.

I used just a simple battery charger, left it on Active I belive was like 12v and 10 amp I think it was running my AudioBahn A4002T, with to tower speakers with 12" subs in them hooked to my computer worked great, had the battery charger on it's own power bar that way I could shut it off at nights just incase something happened lol, needless to say worked fine never had a problem at all....

I won't be usin' the internal power supply. I"ll actually connect the rca's directly to the 5.1 input of my receiver, and the subwoofer output to my crossfader input on my woofer. I'll try the battery charger first, since i have one of those already. Thanks for all the ideas and help. next thig is, how would i also connect my car woofers to this? separate power supply for the deck and amps?
