Deck Question:

I currently have this deck..Paid like $80 for it.. was wondering if its worth it to upgrade.
I'm installing a JL sub and a alpine amp and the deck does have subwoofer output...

I find that deck sounds better than the alpine x100 I use to have..

I currently have aftermarket speakers in the car if that matters?

Or will getting a $150 deck not make a difference

Would totally depend on the new decks features. If you are interested in a new deck make sure you read carefully about it, and try to find some reviews.

A lot of people end up upgrading because of EQ features and more preouts.

If you're happy with it, and it has pre-outs for the new gear, I don't see why you should upgrade.

if the deck is a Sony, Alpine, Pioneer, Kenwood etc . . . they are all of reasonable quality regardless of price.

If the deck is a Dual, or some other knock off, then yes upgrade it.

My deck has 14watt rms..

The difference between 14 and 22 is subjective and I doubt you would notice much difference.

For example, your current Sony could be 14 rms @20hz - 20khz, thus covering the whole range of sound, while the pioneer could be 22 @ 2000hz - just one tone, when in actuality if you text across the range, the average could be less than 22.

However, a new toy is always nice Go for the Pioneer!

Yes, I would choose Pioneer over Sony any day.

What about a good Kenwood. I've had 2 kenwoods now and i love both of them... only upgraded the one so i had more pre outs. and e-bay you can git one for less then 200 with shipping. good investment there my friend, trust me.
My friend bought my first kenwood upgrading from the pioneer and he loves it!

I would take a old school sony high end unit before a pioneer unit.

Then again I'm using an alpine 7909j for my build. :@
