I need to find a dual preout with the sub out built in X over for my daughters car. (85 Tempo)
I have Pioneer, Sony, Panasonic, Kenwood, JVC, Alpine and Clarion to choose from. These decks range from 249 to 349.
Based on warranty and personal opinion, what brand do you like overall?
I am leaning towards either the Pioneer or Alpine models.

Personal opinion = clarion or alpine.
I've never had good luck with my kenwoods (from 300+500 models) Bad radio reception and after a year, they would skip pretty easily. Cold would make them skip even more.

I would go with the one your daughters likes the looks of the most. At that price range, any of the decks that have the features you want will work, so what would be easiest for her to operate?

I just installed a Clarion DZX 525 (i think...it ws from the 500 series).
It has dual pre-outs, with the rear being either rear/sub. With x-over and level control.
It also has AUX inputs, cd changer control, and a bunch of other goodies.
I have always had good sucsess with clarion, and the boys over at CCC have always treated me good.
It was a no brainer for me!

The nice thing about the Clarion sub crossover is that it lets you select 50/80/120hz for the LP, as opposed to my Alpine that is 80/120/160hz, which are a bit high for my liking. I am sure the newer Alpines have more selections than mine did though......

I was thinking of the Clarion, but didnt get a chance to talk to Ferd about it. The young guy in there wanted $50 just for a very simple install. Samn was off that day to. Dont know who the guy was I was talking to.
I have ruled out Sony, Kenwood, and Panasonic. Warranty downtime issues and skipping being the criteria there.
The plan for her is to take one of my ZX 350`s and a pair of the XS 12`son the sub out for now. And run the stock speakers off the deck power.
Eventually if she wants, we would pick up a front stage amp and a pair of components.
She wants some bump in there and I think I can get her involved in a few competitions.
