Deep Cycle Battery or Cap??

Just wanted to get your thoughts on which would be better for me to stop my lights from dimming. Running a MRV-345 4 gauge pro wire power/ground

Battery Choice would be an Optime Yellow Top Model 51

I used to use a CAP then it died. I got Yellow top and it was awesome.

Thanks guys,

This system was not designed for bass. This is my daily driver car and I need something better then the stock system for my 1 hour commute. I listen to rock music mainly and all I needed is a solid woofer like the JL 10w1 in a small removable box. My main concern is dimming and damaging the alternator. This happened on my Civic and cost be a bundle to replace the alt. The Cap I used in that car was inexpensive and lasted maybe a year and a bit.

Sound like the yellow top will be the answer unless someone else has another POV.

If you fried your altenator with 1 sub playing, you have bigger problems than a cap.I run over 1000w and no caps and no problems.

Never seen a cap just die... Hook it up wrong, sure, but just die? What makes ya say that?

I run a simple 1f cap, and have for years, never had a problem with it. And I work it far harder than I should, with 2 to 3 kw going through it...

And Optima has discontinued the 51R's. No longer available. Go Kinetik or Deka or something similar.

Lotsa good related readin' here too: http://www.allstart.net/batadv.htm

The Cap I had kept on beeping and stated the voltage was under 10 volts but my main digital voltage meter up front stated between 11.9 to 12.9 at start-up just after the car would start and I had to keep charging it.

It was a cheap brand and I knew it was crap from the get go. You can tell caps' are cheap when they charge slowly.

No it was not installed incorrectly - Professionally installed.

Yes the Yellow Top 51R is no longer avail...neither of them will fit the 2007 honda FIT.
