its not really a difference in quality, its just a difference in the parts used to make the amps.
go with atleast 12" for deep bass, as for constant, thats where reliability comes in... |
Thanks for the help guys

What's the difference in quality if the amp outputs 2200 X 1ohm vs 2200 X 2ohm?
Thanks |

yeah i run 1 ten right now it shakes the crap outta everything to, but if i put 2 12" in it gets louder thats just the pain of cone area right. Not to mention its often easier for someone with limited knowledge or someone new to get better bass from the 2 12" set up then it is for them to do magic boxes that make a 10" get complaints from a block away.

Lebsoljah, you are asking a bunch of car audio maniacs for advice. They are gonna make you blow so much $$$
:P I get the feeling you are just a dude who wants some good SQ subs for as little as you can pay. The whole oddesey battery thing is more for the real car audio fanatics. I avoided all that stuff and just got a 1 farad capacitor. Yes, yes, a big no no from the experts, (lol) but for guys like you and me, it will be fine. (I get a steady 13.5-14V reading, and my car is stock as far as the electrical components are concerned). I managed to buy (from a friend, I got lucky) 2 pioneer premier 10 inch subs (the high quality ones, not the cheap "championship" versions) in a custom box, with a 1200watt premier amp, 4 guage wire kit, and a 1 farad digital cap for a bit over $300. The system shakes the whole car, and the SQ is great. The cap prevents any power loss, and I get a lot of head turning while i roll around. Keep in mind this is in a not so great SQ car (05 civic si coupe). In other words, if you buy used, or get a hook up from someone, $1500 is more than enough to put together a wicked setup, for a regular joe like you or me. Obviously fellows like Jo-Psyko have been in the car audio competition scene for a long time, so they forget what it means to be a regular guy looking for a bumping everyday ride system. ;) |
actually this is my first yr competing, but you are right alot of us will tend to head you a bit over board. But its not on purpose :) just we have a different idea of crazy bass then the average person thats all.. I definitely recommend looking at used gear, i always try to point people to the classifieds on the forums, and you can get really good bass for $1500 with money to spare.
not to long ago i was running a system that cost me $300 on ebay thats after shipping and everything. It was really good for daily beating. i guess i just try to offer suggestions that provide long lasting enjoyment and quality gear with out getting to a crazy price. |
No, I understand, you just have a refined ear for real good sound. But it's easy to forget how decent bass (enough to impress the bitches :P) can be had for very little $$$ to keep a regular joe/car audio nooby like myself happy for daily beating. I'm new to the scene and the setup i just posted is my first set of subs/amp etc etc. I'm not into any SPL or anything. I just want some nasty clean bass to rattle my bones for as little $$$ as I can! :D
Just make sure you get a good guy to install it!!! |
yeah i'll be happy when im moving enough air that the gusts out the passenger window blow up chicks skirts at stop lights hahahah
and yes installation and good tuning are half the battle |
