Is the dex-p1 a great deck?

Yes it's a great unit.
Great SQ with excellent audio section.
Vast assortment of features some of which include time alignment, 13 band EQ, triple crossovers, triple 4v preouts with level adjustment, auto eq, DSP modes, no internal amp, etc.
I wouldn't have a problem paying $450 for another one.

Yea i agree with dukk if you lose the remote you are toast! The only things you can do with out the remote is volume up/down and track fwd/back. THATS IT!
I think $450 is a little to much unless it is NIB. I paid 350 for mine and it was pretty much mint but still used.

The whole reason it has such an advanced remote is that it can have more display area to tell the user what it is doing and to keep the faceplate clean and new looking without your sticky fingers having to use all its buttons.
I bought mine new 5 years ago. At dealer cost it was still $1100.
For what it does if it's in great condition anything less than $500 would be a good price.
The remote is ergonomically designed. I can adjust anything on the HU with remote in hand without having to physically look at either the HU or remote. Doesn't seem to difficult to me.
