I sure would be, likely within a couple weeks. What is your list price, I picked this sub up for $49 + tax. So ported is the way to go with these then?

No wonder they don't have any left in stock...... $49 they are pretty much losing money on them. Best price from me is $69.99 + taxes and shipping. They do indeed like a ported box. I have about 20 in stock.

Okay, still not a bad price. I'll let you know when the funds come in, like I said, probably 2 weeks or so. Thanks for the info

I am also within the specs for a ported enclosure as well so I could do that as well. Adding the second sub is definitely an option however the one store in my town (Kamloops, BC) that actually stocks bassworx sold me their last of the Bassworx 12.2 subs.

If your trying to get lower than 30Hz generally speaking your box will have to get much larger than 1.5cu ft. Your most likely looking closer to 2.00-2.5cu ft. per sub(plus the displacement of the sub itself). Throw the specs out the window, get the thiele small parameters of the sub and find yourself a copy of WINSPRO beta and play around. You could also post about it on here, there are many accomplished box builders on this forum! It is possible that your perticular sub will not be able to play that frequency range because of it's own physical limitations. The winspro program should be able to tell you where it's happiest

I am definitely thinking a new box is in order. I am yet to find a local dealer that has a generic box which is properly tuned for my sub. I am also not too keen on paying the quoted $250 for a custom box which is not even carpeted. Although I know it will sound much better it is still difficult to justify that price for a $49 sub. Anyone know of any builders in the Kamloops, BC area wanting to work under the table to a few bucks? Box made to mdf stage no finishing.

Sorry i meant winISD pro. There's a pretty good chance your $50 dollar subs won't do what you want them to. $250 for a good custom box is not that much to pay for a quality built box. Remember your not just paying for the box, it's the supplies and the blood, sweat and tears of the installer who's gone through build after build to get it right! If you want a generic box with a generic price be prepaired for generic, mediocre sound

I coudn't agree more, and yes I am aware that the limitations of the sub are such that I cannot expect the performance of something costing much more. I am just trying to find a happy medium with the price of a custom box. For $250 I may as well go out and get a packaged sub/box deal somewhere.

There is no guarantee that the packaged system has close to the right box for the subs...... right back to square one. Trevor in Salmon Arm (Thumpper here on the forum) builds some incredible boxes and I am sure he could set you up as well. Here is a link to his pricing. Worst case scenario, you have a 45 minute drive over to see him, then go to Armstrong on the way back and shovel the snow off the roof of my dad's house (he's 80 and is stubborn as all hell and there is no way for me to go see him right now).

Now those prices I can live with. cross my fingers on some O/T next cheque. I can't imagine there being enough snow to have to shovel it off the roof. I didn't realize this was Quebec. My rate is $75/h and travel expense, meals, accomodation, bonues for job well done, gas. The total will be $976.37. Can I expect the cheque in the mail?
