Do I need more power?

Just wondering, I am running a mid 90's RF 160x4 4 channel amp. 40x4 rms? My four front coaxials are running in 8 ohm stereo(series wired) with the gain quite low, they get fairly loud and clean. The third channel runs at 2 ohms to my RE8 in a sealed box up front, the 4th channel is also at 2 ohms to my last RE8 in a 1.1 cube ported box in the back(BTW this ported box slays on the low notes for the RE8's, in case anyone was wondering!). I get decent bass up front, but I would like a tighter sound, and would like a bit more volume out of the front and back sub. Thinking of going to a separate monoblock sub amp, 300-400 watts, then run the two 8's off of that. Is it likely that a separate class d amp, designed to run subs, would make a big improvement in sound? Thanks.....

When I read or hear that it is 'classic' lack of midbass.
Sure you have an 8 up front - how high does it play? 80hz? You gotta know those 4x6s are doing zip under 400hz or so and the 3.5s even higher.
My opinion is you need a good set of midbass.

Hey guys!
I have the exact same problem... 3 1/2" in the front, 6x9's in the back , complete lack of the all important MIDBASS!
I cant afford the $500 for the kicks, and my doors are not very speaker friendly.
Do you guys think putting some 5.5" - 6.5" midbases in the rear deck a good idea, untill i can figure out something with custom door pods???
I know this will pull my stage more to the rear, but isn't it better than no midbass at all???
thx
