you bought a ferrari and expected to get an upgrade for a mustang price. Leap is the the top program for those who use it to it's maximum. it a shame that you felt taken by them. you should have done some kind of search into the program befor you bought it. I could've told you the situation well before you bought it. But is guess it's too late now. I'm sure that anyone and everyone could've told you the same thing well before you bought it. I do feel bad for you, that you didn't research it way back when. It is worth that money if your using it to it's full potential.

i hate to be on the negative side of this...
but ya the guy has a point there dude...
there's is a software piece that not to many people buy and use fully, just like Adobe Photoshop and such, it's a program that usually people buy and then use that one version for YEARS even if there is a new version, there-fore when they release a new version they have to charge for it again in order to pay the people putting long hours into programming this piece of software for you...
when only a small amount of people buy your peice of software you have to treat it like a car for instance, you can't buy a brand new car and expect 3 years later to be able to get the new car for free just because you bought the previous "version" of the car, the most you can expect is maybe a bit off of the new car via a trade in deal...
now sometimes software companies do this, and honestly i don't know why your rep didn't offer you this, next time you talk to him i'd just call them up and calmy request a "previous purchase deal" explaining to him your situation, but just don't expect it anywhere near free...
from what i know Adobe only takes a couple hundred off their price tag with that deal...
just my 2 cents...

the problem i have is the leap 5 upgrade made it so that my leap 4.5 does not work at all
this is not software that has a licence fee
i purchased it under the assumption it would continue to work as long as i use the operating system that supported in it
under the licence agreement it does not state that the software will not work after a certain time
i told the guy that they should be upfront with the customers he laughed at me
and compared my problem to that of me phoning for old software support for windows
p.s.leap 5 has not been out for very long
this was when leap 4.5 became obsolete

==>> NOTE: LEAP-5 SHIPPING DATE <<==
===============================
The last two manual sets just came in today, and the CD's should be in next week. LEAP-5 will start shipping next week. Cannot say exactly what day, but a fair guess would be March 20, 2003.

^ that bites man.
You did miss in your original post that your 4.5 was rendered useless though I figured it was still working and you were only missing out on the new stuff in 5.
For your 4.5 to 'expire' is lame
I've been a Term1, TermPro, TermPak guy for 10 years now though

the software comes with a software bridge or dogle
according to my computer friend that is a avid hacker
its a good idea to stay away from software using this as they can set it to turn off by changing hardware, date or many other variables
and the sad thing is you don't find out until your there
he emailed me saying that if i buy the new software they would support it for free
i wasn't looking to get it fixed for free
i was willing to buy a new key if thats what was needed
i could't justify rebuying software that dosn't come cheep
and what really cheesed me off is they offered no help at all when i phoned besides rebuying the software
my red hair kicked in and i told the guy off and told him i would post my satifaction all over the internet
he said go for it we have lots of happy customers
so i got busy last night after the power came on and did my posting there website included
i did ever topic forum at linearx
anomously of course
next thing you know about 12:00 today i get a phone call and they offer to fix my problem
i honestly thought they were going to do nothing
sorry for the rant just proves the sqeeky wheel gets the oil

^ Good for you. Stick it to the man.
Far too often now I am seeing 'faceless' internet/phone based/mail order companies giving the WORST service imaginable. Not like there is a LinearX store you can go into and freak out on - all you can do is yell into a phone until they hang up
About time these businesses realize that a dissatisfied client CAN reach a sizeable portion of their customer base quite quickly so they better damn well be polite!
