well you really have to bend over to see the amp under the seat sooo to me that is stealth lol cant see speakers either until i start my fiberglass enclosure in the door pods

just dont know why people put polyfill in their boxes? i doesnt do anything.

pollyfill eats up inner volume and raises the tuning..it also deadens the
interior of the enclosure and it also traps heat

the only time I use pollyfill is to stuff a weird shaped "sealed" fiberglass pod
to adjust the tuning/inner volume

danyman 06-08-2008 10:49 AM

took out the polyfill this week and well its louder lol

df.dima 06-08-2008 10:57 AM

while i've seen papers showing how poly affects the system in a sealed box, i don't remember anything about poly in ported box.
any numbers of ported box and poly, guys? :)

danyman 06-08-2008 11:38 AM

i dont know but from massive audio they said 1.5cf without polyfill sealed and 2.0cf with 80% polyfill ported so i tryed it and well the bass is tighter but less output than without poly

read this article, it sheds some light on polyfill.

thanks veeman finally a site that explains a bit more lol

hey trevor that what I thought too, but anyone I ever talked too about it, say it a good way to increase box size without actually increasing it... Read article about it in this thread.... I dunno I prob never tried it unless I had termlab and see numbers differences... impedence rises and what ever else needed:cheeky4:

It does the opposite: lowers the effective Qtc and the resonance frequency.

Could you expand on that a bit? Typically people use the term "deaden" to imply that the resonant frequency of a particular object has been lowered by whatever material has been added to the object. It can, however, absorb sound at higher frequencies, typically well outside those of a subwoofer (even outside of the harmonics encountered within typical subwoofer bandwidth).

Nice install either way. I like the ports firing under the seat, looks good. Keep up the good work. Nice and clean.
