Double DIN Navigation recommendations

Can anyone with some experience in this area make some recommendations to me. I need a double DIN head unit with NAV for the wife's CRV. Note I said *WIFE*. It cannot be a PITA unit as that will cause my life misery.

She mainly needs it for navigation and I want to replace the stock unit as the stock sound system is JUNK. So I want to give her NAV and better tunes !!

Thoughts ?!??!?

I can tell you one NOT to get if you dont want something that is a PITA and that is the alpine 505/p1 combo. The newer all in one alpine DD nav deck looks alot simplier to use though.

Actually I have to say the INAw900 from Alpine. Super easy to use and super quick.

I had a flip through the various manufacturers yesterday, Alpine, Kenwood, Pioneer and Clarion. All their flagship units come with a lot of *stuff*.

Kenwood is using Garmin for their NAV portion. I know Garmin is decent. A buddy of mine also uses the Alpine setup, although it's a few years old and he seem pretty happy about it.

I use the new Kenwood, not completely happy at the high $ it commands. I still recommend the Eclipse AVN726e and it is still available.

Do you have any of these units available?

If so, at what price?

Clarion, while their implementation sucks on the installation side, has a really nice nav lineup this year.

As much as I like Alpine, the INAW900 sucks for nav. It's slow and the maps are wrong (for my area) and they're not too great at providing updates.

I am biased but the 5 + 6 series Kenwood's with Garmin are firmware updateable, simple to use, full xovers, and cheap to update the maps. My wife has been using it with very little coaching and all is good.

Yeah, but the Kenwoods are a bit pricey. I'm could get a decent deal on it (not top of the line Kenwood) and still in the $1500 range with all the bits. Last years 5140 for half of that. Back in the day, when I was more into this stuff, these units were $2K to $3K for less features.
