Found this on consumerreview.com
Summary:
In all my years of being in the car audio industry no other speaker company has come close to the value and performance of the Dr. Crankenstein line. Dr. Crankenstein came to life in 1989 when I was 26 years old. I owned a small car audio shop in Westwood, KY. My lifelong friend Ed, was 24 at the time and attending the University of Kentucky. I had the idea to start my own speaker company and compete with the likes of Rockford, Kicker and JBL. A few thousand borrowed dollars later, and Ed and I started Dr. Crankenstein. I can assure you that the car audio world was not ready for us. We were thrown out of practically every car audio show we attended. In 1989 people didn't want what Dr. Crankenstein had to offer, which was unbelievably loud car audio systems. You have to remember, back then the average car audio customer was over 25 years old. We kept fighting the industry's bureaucracy and resistance until the other manufacturers realized that extremely loud systems appealed to a "wilder" spending group (people under 25). The next thing we knew all the other manufacturers were bringing their own loud vehicles to the shows and voila, the SPL craze that we all know today was born. It's a good thing, because without the excitement of the SPL craze, the industry would have been dead long ago. Ed and I feel that Dr. Crankenstein "pioneered" (no pun intended) the SPL craze. Looking back, it's funny how two kids with all the odds against them were able to change the course of an entire industry. But we did.
To all our friends and followers, thanks for the years we really enjoyed them.

Did I hear someone needs specs?

I'll take a guess that it's a SPL124C. The power rating is 200rms on it.

Haha Dr Cranks ruled in there time!! I loved my set that I had, And when I went to Phantom, across the street was the DR Crankenstein's Van that broke the 1st 150db hit (I believe it was the first 150), and if you go talk to the owner of it(big pete) he has a few stories on that van!! CAn't miss it, plastered up and down with Dr Crankenstien logo's :P Thought I would share my expereince, and if the spl124 sub you have, give it 500wrms and have some fun!! Rated for 200, but Meh, its an old sub so have some fun, then buy some up to date gear

Wow.. now there is a name i remember - Dr. Crankenstein.. first time i saw that van was the 2nd last year dbdrags was at Audio Thinder.

I am quite sure it was the van that could be heard outside the building - had 16 15" Dr Crankenstein woofers in it..
