Most Kenwood (kvt-817, 717, 617, 915) models allow you to play DVD's with mp3's on them, as well as MPEG 1/2 video, so you can watch music video's for your favorite songs, and display .jpeg pictures; pretty cool features. And the kenwood navigation unit is hideaway R.O.M., SD upgradeable I believe. Plus probably considerable cheaper than alpine...

Pioneer owns the world of Nav, the only one that I can think of that is both tonally and functionally superior is the Eclipse units.
