dvd region codes

I am interested in a din dvd player that matches my interior but it is set for 'region 2' which is UK. DOes anyone know if it is possible to change this to 'region 1' (North America) and be done with it?

Also, along the same lines, does anyone know if there would be a problem running an alpine processor from Japan? Such as the H700 (which they have in all-blue) and the H900 (which they have with selectable coax and toslink inputs)? Although this is an audio processor, but would I still have the regional problem when trying to playback DTS audio from 'region 1'?

Very interested to know, thx in advance
